Mom-mom bought a couple of books for the kids the other day. I have great memories of my grandmother buying books for me… only rule was that we had to read them.
Emma got “Knuffle Bunny Too” which she has been begging for…

…and Jake got a crazy cool Star Wars pop-up book that explains the whole Star Wars universe.
We have had a ton of fun reading them.

We were so excited to celebrate Abby’s dedication. It’s great to stand in front of our church family at Eagle Brook, family, friends and God to say that we’ll raise her with a love for God.
What a cool day. We were blessed with fabulous people in our lives to go down that road with us and have asked Missy and Jerry Andrews to be her godparents and Emily to be Abby, Emma and Jake’s godsister – which is perfectly fitting. We have always viewed Emily as a sister to the kids, but to give her an extra bit of responsibility and a cool title was awesome.
It was a beautiful day. We stood before the church and promised to raise the Abby in the church in front of 2000 people including our friends and family – so cool. Abby was dressed in a beautiful white dress – thanks grandma.
We also were able to take some pictures in the family Christening gown, which most of us wore for our Christenings on back (and before) to my maternal grandmother who was born in the 1890s.
After church we came back to our house and barbecued with everyone. It was an amazing summer day and we relaxed with burgers and hot dogs from the grill.
We held to a tradition that started with my 30th birthday party 3 years ago – Odepalooza.

This is our annual summer Tiki party. It’s just a great time for us to get together with friends and family to enjoy a summer night in Minnesota.
This year we featured some fun new infused vodkas: watermelon (mixed with lemonade – yummy) and Skittles (all 5 flavors).
Additionally, the yard was enhanced just for the party to include a fabulous patio and some new landscaping – it was lots of work, but so worth it. I so enjoyed the party this year.
It seemed easy to talk to everyone and we had a really great crowd. All of the kids ran around the yard and had so much fun.
Got some bad news this weekend. Mom had some bad chest pains very early Saturday morning and called the squad.
She spent the next few days in Riverside undergoing tests. Virginia and Julie were great about keeping me in the loop, and I spoke to mom several times.
The net result appears to be that she has a pretty clean bill of health. It wasn’t a heart attack (not really sure what to call it). They did a heart catheterization and confirmed that that two areas of blockage that they knew about from before were basically the same.
We’re looking forward to seeing her in August for Odepalooza with Uncle Jim and Aunt Julie.
